ABOUT PASTOR DARLING
Pastor Alvin Darling was born in Newark, New Jersey, and was raised by his grandmother, Lilla Darling. He has memories of his grandmother always taking him to church where he would sleep through a lot of it and they would have to wake him up to sing. When he was very young he attended what was then Smith Memorial COGIC in Newark and later he was a member of Deliverance under the pastorate of the late Apostle Skinner. He attended the Deliverance Bible Institute.
One of the most memorable times of his life was when he met his wife, Patricia Bullock Darling, and they are the parents of Christopher and Shaun.
Pastor Darling subsequently joined the Greater Mt. Zion Church and answered the ministry call on his life in November 1979. He was an associate minister there until he was appointed Pastor in 2001 of Greater Mt. Zion and the Old Ship of Zion.
Pastor has traveled throughout the US and Europe spreading the gospel through music, but now he has taken on the challenge to pastor and considers it the most challenging effort he has experienced but at the same time, the most rewarding. His love for God and people has helped both of his congregations to grow spiritually as well as naturally. Although music is an integral part of Pastor Darling’s life, he is committed to presenting God’s Word to a hurting and lost generation.
Pastor Darling has been given a mandate from God to write the vision and make it plain. He has encouraged his congregations to remember that the vision that God has given him for them is in progress; that they are to strive for excellence in all that they do and to experience better praise, better worship and better service to God and that it really is, All About Jesus.
